School Overview

SIET is an ISO Certified engineering college and established in the year 2002 under the auspices of Sri Shridevi Charitable Trust by the founder trustee Dr. M.R. Hulinaykar. The SIET is one of the best engineering colleges in Karnataka which is affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University and recognized by Government of Karnataka under the approval from All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi. The Institute offers seven Undergraduate courses and three Post Graduate courses with an annual intake of 636 students

Earlier Scenario

SIET was following manual administrative process, before implementing Orell suite. Tally was used for the accounting processing and prototype software was used for the library management in the institution.


Orell Suite, a highly scalar and modular application provides high security data administration which covers the whole activities of the institution. It solves the complex administration process in an educational institution and is a very user friendly software application.

Current Scenario

After the Honeycomb suite implementation, the whole admission process was automated. The other administrative process such as, fee management, payroll, inventory and timetable creation has also been automated.

Approach and Process
  • The whole implementation was divided in to three phases.
  • The Orell Technical Team performed an online installation of the Orell suite.
  • The Orell Business Analyst Team visited the SIET campus and provided the system training.
  • A process study was conducted and the customization requirements were collected from the client.
  • The customized software was sent to SIET on time.
  • Honeycomb suite automated the whole critical functions such as admission, attendance, timetable, fee management, printing student ID card and payroll.
  • The access to information became easier for the administrator and staff.
  • The efficiency of the whole process is increased.
  • With the Honeycomb suite, SIET attained reduction in process time and labor cost.
